Science intensive week

This week, the senior school had its science intensive week. All the students from Rooms 7,8,9 and 10,went to different classes and learnt different things.

On Wednesday Room 9 students went to Room 8 with Mrs Moopanar and we made fizzy lemonade and it did not taste so good. It tasted like a rotten orange. We also did another experiment with ice cubes.

On Thursday, Room 9 students went to Room 7 to make some bread. We walked inside and there was a table of ingredients for the bread. There was yeast, sugar, flour and much much more. We made a mixture so we could pour it into a bottle and put a balloon on top, we put it into the sun to make the balloon rise.

On the same day, we visited Room 10 to see what we were going to do. We walked in and there was ingredients to make scones. There were 2 ingredients that were standing out to me. L & P and Sprite. We made the sconces and ate it with milk, it was so yummy.

Poem

This is a poem that i have learnt over the past week.
The author of this poem is Dwayne Gordon

School, it is stressing at times.
Many times I don't even have it on my mind.
School is good, and it is bad, there are times I think that I'm going to be mad.
It is a good thing to go to school, so that you could remember the rules.
Don't be shy.
Don't be a fool.
Go to school, and learn all the rules.

Malama Honua

Malama Honua Event

On a bright sunny hot morning, the senior students from Glenbrae school went to the Point England Reserve with the other students from the Manaiakalani cluster.

Everyone was at Point England beach and there were over 2000 people  there. Once all the 12 schools were there, the waka arrived and a small  speed boat brought the crew from  the waka  to the beach.

When everyone came off the boat, we started to sing some waiatas and performed  the haka to welcome them.  We all enjoyed it and we had so much fun. Then people from both sides exchanged speeches and more singing followed.

Finally they introduced themselves and we did high fives as our farewell. Some of the students from Glenbrae school were chosen to stay back and have a korero with them while the rest of the seniors walked back to school in the hot scorching sun.

Butterfly creek

                                                        Butterfly creek

WALT:I am learning to write a Recount.

On Monday 9th of February Room 9 and 10 students went  to butterfly creek to learn about dinosaurs.

A tour guide took us into a little room and was talking about dinosaurs and showed us dinosaur
poo and dinosaur teeth.

When we finished listening to Paul, we split up into two groups. My group went to the fish room and we saw Nemo and other beautiful, colored fish. From the aquarium we went to the butterfly room which was very warm to keep the butterflies alive.

After that we went on the train and it was a really short ride but we got to see more dinasaurs, goats, pigs and chickens. When we finished there we went to the crocodile show and there were two people hosting the show. Once they went in the cage they were introducing themselves and the crocodile. Its name was scarce and what they did was they had fish heads on hooked lines so they could feed the crocodile. This was exciting to watch.

When we finished watching the crocodile show we looked at a tarantula and then we were done. we went back on the bus and left to go back to school.

I had a lot of fun there i got to learn new things that I never knew before.
